Coast Guard Investigative Association (CGIA) Update #9

CGIA Members,
Hope that everyone is doing well and staying safe. I wanted to pass on some information to all of you.

On 10/01/2021, that it was my pleasure to swear in Mr. John Engle as the new Vice President (VP) for the association today. A little background on John. He was the 3rd Investigator Rating Force Master Chief for CGIS from 2017 until he retired.  His assignments within CGIS included CGIS RAO Sault Ste. Marie, MI, CGIS Central Region, CGIS RAO Chicago, CGIS RAO Detroit, CGIS RAO Milwaukee, and CGIS RAO Saint Louis. I have worked with John for several years and know that he will be a valuable member and an outstanding VP for CGIA.

I want to give a huge thanks to Bud Hall for volunteering to take on the responsibility as the VP when we needed one. It was a difficult time for the association when he took the position. Bud of course will continue to be a critical member of CGIA, and we will continue to lean on him for advice.

The Association is currently planning on hold an annual conference in Phoenix, AZ, in 2022.  As a country we are making progress with the vaccinations and many states are lifting restrictions, but we as an association must keep in mind the safety of all our members before making a decision.  Please reach out to Regional Reps if you have any concern, or suggestions for the conference.

President Harris is currently working with CGIS HQ on re-instating the Special Agent of the Year award.  More to come on this.

   God bless and be safe.
